At Whidbey Telecom, we are passionate about innovation and community. As a local provider, we’re invested in more than just expanding our next-generation broadband network. We’re committed to making a positive difference in our communities. By keeping jobs here, supporting our schools, and donating to community nonprofits, we are investing in our future.
In celebrating community and empowering organizations, the employees of Whidbey Telecom believe in fostering strong community bonds. This year, our employee giving committee coordinated food, cash and service donations to local, not for profit, community-based organizations both on Whidbey Island and in Point Roberts.
“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”
Nelson Mandela
We believe in sustaining a safe, healthy, and inspiring community for our children and our children’s children. Any investment in our youth is multiplied tenfold, because they are the ones who will shape our future. Children need access to quality education, creative activities, sports & athletics, caring mentorship, and above all, a safe place for them to grow and succeed. We are happy to support the following organizations in this endeavor:
- Readiness To Learn Foundation
- Calyx Community Arts School
- South Whidbey Little League
- South Whidbey Children’s Center
- The HUB After School
- Big Brothers Big Sisters Island County
- Coupeville Boys & Girls Club
- SWHS Athletic Booster Club
- South Whidbey Youth Soccer
- Point Roberts Dollars for Scholars
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.”
Thomas Merton
The arts have the ability to unite and inspire us like no other medium, and it is our pleasure to help promote local artists. At any time of the year you can find concerts, plays and exhibits across the island. The shows are absolutely mesmerizing—and with such a close-knit community, you have a pretty good chance of seeing someone you know on stage! Our nonprofit recipients in support of the arts include:
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.“
Margaret Mead
Assisting our neighbors in their time of need should be a basic element of any community. Many families in our area need a little help getting by day to day—whether it’s help with putting food on the table, assisting a loved one with a disability, or finding safe shelter. Fortunately, there are many local nonprofits who provide assistance, resources and financial aid to those in need, but it takes the backing of the whole community behind them. We are happy to support the following community aid organizations:
- Good Cheer Food Bank
- Gifts From the Heart Food Bank
- Point Roberts Food Bank
- Ryan’s House for Youth
- South Whidbey Homeless Coalition
- Island Senior Resources
- Mother Mentors Whidbey Island
- Small Miracles Coupeville Medical Support Fund
- Friends of Friends Medical Support Fund
“One of the first conditions of happiness is that the link between man and nature shall not be broken.”
Leo Tolstoy
We love being able to live and work in places like Whidbey Island and Point Roberts. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, the air is clean, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the quality of life is excellent. We all do our part to preserve that environment for future generations. There are several organizations that work diligently to appreciate, protect and restore the natural habitats and resources here. It is our pleasure to assist them in their mission:
- Whidbey Camano Land Trust
- Whidbey Watershed Stewards
- Whidbey Island Garden Tour
- Whidbey Gardening Workshop
- Orca Network
Put simply, we love where we live and work. The more we get involved in our community and make a positive impact, the better it becomes—and the better we all become!
